Make a tac. light (cheap!!!)

For anyone with a bottom rail it is very simple and not overly expensive to make your own tac. light. All you need is a flashlight, a couple of scope mounts, and some tape.

The flash light should be 1 inch in diameter or smaller. and it should ether be a push botton or switch to turn it on.

You should be able to find scope mounts at any sporting goods store or anywhere that sells hunting suplys (rifle scopes) this should include wal-mart but I'm not sure on that. If you can find them buy used ones, they should be alot cheaper and in just about as good a condition as new ones.

Very simply take the tape (I recomend electrical tape) and wrap it around the flashlight handle untill it's the right size for the scope mounts (1 inch in diameter). Be very carefull that it doesn't interfear with the on/off switch. When wraping the handle constantly check on the size with one of the scope mounts. Now take the scope mounts and mount them on your bottom rail. After mounting them open them up and place you flash light in them, make any adjustments you want, and tighten the scope mounts.

Pressure switches make them an even more valuable tool but you usually have to buy a light that comes with a pressure switch. The presure switch has a cable that you run to where ever your hand naturaly sits. A little pressure turns the light on and off without even having to move your hand.

Smaller lights usually have really low lumens (brightness) so it's important to get a light with enough power to see far enough clearly or you are simply putting a light target for someone to shoot at otherwise.

yea, I agree with beach on that. the one I do up for my spetznas was less then $20. By the way if anyone has scope mounts they don't want please let me know.

i put a tact light on my spas-12 just by taking a A-DELL clamp out of my tool box and attaching it to the shotgun with a stock screw cost me $3 for the light and i have no idea for the clamp ill post pics

the only problem i see with this is the light is not focused far away it is close up works well im cqb but im unsure of open area

Those flashlights you were using for the tac-light were a fantastic deal from Costco. I made a mount awhile ago using 2 scope mounts and this way the flashlight is mounted on the scope if rails are unavailable. With the aid of a Dremil tool with cutoff blades this project makes a solid light mount.

Knight, great to see some modding going on here. The club will have to have a build or mod day again sometime. Get some more potato cannons and what not going. Since I have bailed house from PG and took my shop back to Terrace, any chance that you wouldn't happen to have a small shop would ya?

Modding! Ya I love to make shoit, usually I can't find what I want or can't afford it. So I just make it. A little ingenuity and a dremil tool go a long way.
