| Awesome movie, just bought a copy and watched it, little hookey on the silencer part but still an awesome movie. Making me think a ghillie suit would be a good idea. One of the members of the PC Gaming Team I belong to posted a pic of himself over in Fallujah, thought I'd share it. | |

| I've seen it in walmart, but it's rare there and they wont order it in. I loved shooter to. I just had a couple of things I found wrong with it. First off when the shot the arch bishop at over 2000 yards they used a gun mounted tripod to get 1/4 moa. (Minute of angle) thats a little more then 1" at a hundred yards 2" at 200y. so 1/4 moa at 2000y. would be a five inch group, and that's if the guy had everything exackly perfect for his shot. A five inch group is a little big for a head shot. you would want three inch max and your stil getting a lucky shot at that. Plus their paper patching a used bullet would through that off a heck of a lot more then 1/4 moa.
The other was when he shot the propane tank to take down a helicopter that was bogus.

| Im surprised no one mentioned the fact that he had to manually cock the M82 after every shot in the opening sequence against the chopper. Seems though the blanks werent loaded with the same amount of powder as the real shells and so they wouldnt cycle the M82 properly. The reason was given was if the right amount of powder was used, it would distort the shot because of the shock wave.
As for the pop bottle silencer it is semi true. The first shot would be "silenced" to the point where my .22 long sounded more like a car door slamming and without the echo of the shot, still loud though and only the first shot would work like that.
The paper patching was bullshit, that idea was invented back before the 1900's and wouldn't work with today's rifles do to the precise sizes of the barrels.
As for the 2000 yard shot, yeah I head shot would be a bad idea due to the chance of a miss, BUT a Canadian Soldier has made shots using a Barrett .50 of over 2500 yards if I remember the article correctly and the gun has more power than a .44 when it hits as it will leave a fist sized entry hole and a basket ball exit.
The .408 Cheyenne (the gun Swagger uses for the test shot at the stew and thus what the mounted gun is) doesn't have the stopping power of the .50 although it beats out the .408 for accuracy at distances. Why a .50 wasn't used though beats the hell out of me... bullet proof vest against a .50 depleted uranium shell... good luck.
Most sniper shots are taken from 600 - 1500 yards, anything more and then you have way too much coming into effect such as wind and flight time of the bullet.

| Why do we talk about how unrealistic movies are? I'm pretty sure we can take any movie and show how it is unrealistic... like shouldn't one of those "well trained" men from Ethiopia gunned down Swagger?
And to easily answer Drache's rhetorical question, the reason a .50 wasn't used was because the good people at Cheyenne paid the movie company to use their rifle... good job on the product placement boys...
I argee, this was a killer movie, I think my favorite shot was when Swagger is walking out of the hanger with the American Flag hung in the background... lame!
