So I don't really know about you guys, but I don't have the money to go blowing 5 or 6 grand on Gen 3 night vision. So, I've come up with a few inexpensive alternatives.
Basically, you can go to walmart, buy the cycops night vision for about $100, that's basic gen 1 and requires infrared illumination. You can also make one if you've got an old video camera kicking around (one of those old ones tha tuse VHS tapes, can pick one up from VV's or a pawn shop or whatever you like)
complex fancy pants instructions and how to make infrered illuminators here:
http://www.lucidscience.com/pro-night%20vision%20viewer-1.aspxthis one requires a few new parts and should cost around $100 ish depending on how many parts you've got. You can also find online video tutorials on how to turn the entire old camera into an infared camera, instead of buying a new small camera.
just some food for thought here
