PostSubject: Advertising Posters   Advertising Posters EmptyFri 03 Dec 2010, 6:13 pm

I was thinking the other day that it's time for use to put out some posters and get some more new blood into the sport locally. In years past we have done this and there is always a little bit of return.

Here are a few places I am thinking of.
-Predator Paintball store
-home hardward paintball section
-warcraft games
-great white
-practical tactical
-3rd ave army surplus
-Bon Voyage
-E&I sports
-Northern Trout fitters

Anyone else have any ideas?

What we need is a poster now to put up. Letter or legal size would be perfect. We can print colour copies at staples for fairly cheap. They should

-be generic enough that Quesnel, PG or 100 mile could post them
-mention that we have indoor and outdoor games (we play all seasons year round)
-rentals avialable
-for ages 16 and up
-a one sentence summary of what airsoft is
-some slogan of "get into the game..." or "get real, play airsoft" or "I hope you make lots of money cause this is going to cost you sucka..."

Post your entries in this thead (formart should be usable by most) and when we have some consensus we'll start putting them around town.

I think advertising is a great idea...oh and lol at the "I hope you make lots of money cause this is going to cost you sucka..."...Great one Dave! Sad but true though. I had a quick one I could throw in. "If it's soft, it's not Airsoft"

PostSubject: Re: Advertising Posters   Advertising Posters EmptySat 04 Dec 2010, 2:06 pm

I can make available for the poster a simpler domain name. I and others find pgairsoft.forumotion.com a mouthful and a little hard to remember.

How about PG.AirsoftBC.com ? And Quesnel.AirsoftBC.com ...and 100Mile.AirsoftBC.com.

I can do that for free (my small contribution).

Its also a way to promote ALL the regions under NIA...heck I can do NIA.AirsoftBC.com as well.

It doesn't eliminate the existing one, just an 2nd name that points to this website...so no extra work required.(cept a bit of typing on my end)

Also nia@airsoftbc.com now forwards email to dave's existing account. The value of this is that he doesnt have to post publically his personal email...or if Dave ever wants a break, or (heavens forbid) is hit by a bus...whoever handles emails for NIA can have that public address (nia@airsoftbc.com) to point at their account.

Or even a couple of accounts!

This is handy if Dave is suddenly and/or often away...2 people can be monitering incoming emails, and if one is distracted with life.. then the other still ensures the email comms are maintained, without any additional administration.

Thats just another option that can be setup if wanted.

Airsoftbc.com I already own....so this is all free, and easy to maintain. The PG and NIA subdomain names as well as the email forward to Dave are already active.

Give em a try.

I am trying to work with the poster elements to produce something...but Yeah these graphics are BIG! and trying to work in excel (which is NOT memory thrifty) keeps bagging out this pc... but I will overcome that shortly, and share something here.

Here is rough draft using alot of the content from the old poster and my suggested new domain name.

http://new.meadhall.info/mike/airsoft/NIA%20Poster%28draft%29.pdf

Is this a direction worth pursuing?

Comments and suggestions needed before more work happens.

Can you add a line about indoor and outdoor play year round.

Don't worry about using images from google. The image in my head is just to catch their attention and doesn't need to be from one of our games.

Hey right on...I will check out some other pics.

The poster has been updated. Small tweaks, patch and your requested line added.

Maybe once the posters basic layout is approved, I will do some with differant pictures...maybe try and use players from the area they are getting posted in.

Chris is talking about doing one, like a mission briefing. But first lets get one that is 'good enough'

PostSubject: Re: Advertising Posters   Advertising Posters EmptyFri 10 Dec 2010, 1:12 pm

It would be great to get other contributions. Come on guys...I took the lazy route and just re-did Dave's Poster...surely someone with the internet at their fingertips, and more creativity than this old guy can do even better!

In the interests of building with what we have, perhaps we can look at using what we have (whats that old saying... not letting the 'best' be the enemy of the 'good'). Cause the 'perfect' poster may NEVER show up. Or maybe critique this one, with an eye to improving it.

If this poster has SOME street level appeal and covers the bases, can we look at printing costs and such? If all we do is just start finding out production info (to be ready for the real rocking poster in-bound) and use this as an example to show printers, we would be smart.

What were you thinking of in this area Dave? Did you have a good printer deal up there?
Color? B/W? Your deals have to be better than mine here in 100 mile house.

Or if not, do we want to look at redoing posters with a Black and White Format in mind? ...We could do a grunge band, gritty photocopier friendly version.

I REALLY want to get a ad campaign started before our Airsoft season starts. You guys can benefit from ads now too since you are doing indoor stuff RIGHT NOW and every new player helps with rental costs right?

Not pushing for THIS poster...I am pushing for A poster Wink

$0.50 a copy for colour up here. The one that you redid I put out in black and white and it brought in a few players for a while. The images really catch people, the info just gets them to our site for the most part.

I would love to print and get these out in the next two weeks for sure. So help me if I have to make another one I will but I promise your eyes will bleed it'll be so bad!

Well, here's my version Mikhail was talking about:

http://mike.heimdallson.com/airsoft/NIA_Poster_Chris.pdf

I've kept it to something that ought to print out on a standard 8.5 x 11" just fine. If anyone has any suggestions re: the text or anything else let me know; I can easily edit it. Heh, I was lazy and just grabbed Mike's text from his version. I should proooobably make it something more official/military sounding, I guess.

Anyways, it is what it is right now. Take a look and let me know what you think! Smile

I like it, can you add Fort StJohn area to the playing areas?

Should get some attention and still look good in black and white or colour. Any other thoughts?

can you add one of these two between "unknown" and "blue team leader" to show the CQC and label it something like "close quarters combat" or "CQC arena"
Advertising Posters IMGP3392
Advertising Posters IMGP3370

I am thinking the goal of the poster is to get them to the website so can you make the web address larger and like the signature on the letter or switch the videos and website spots? Just some way to get the site the main deal.

I think we are a few steps from finished and getting it out into the community. I printed one off and they look good Chris.
