| I'm putting my gearbox back together, but I don't have any cylinder grease with me. Are there any negetive effects of using gear grease on and around the cylinder? | |

| white lithium degrades the rubber O ring in the piston after a while. I asked the same question on ASC and got every answer from "it's the worst thing" to "did it to mine for years and no difference". My AUG just has gear grease in the piston but I do plan to clean it out and use proper gear grease. There is some stuff called super lube that was recommended to me by Illusion. Have to order it from Vancouver. http://www.super-lube.com/ | |

| Ok, well I guess I'll just use the gear grease for now then.
Thanks. | |

| Gear grease is the second worst stuff to use after lithium. It contains petroleum distillates which will destroy the plastics present in pistons, heads, etc.
You can either buy it from A&A, or you can make your own from Dow Corning #111 silicone valve grease and thin it down with pure silicone #10 wt. shock oil (available at a hobby shop).
The grease mixture should have the consistancy of really thick oil with no lumps. | |

| Yah from what I have gathered gear grease is really bad and should only be used on metal parts. Its something in the make up that degrades anything rubber, so your seal in your cylinder might not like it. A&A and Juzzlez carry some systema and G&P cylinder grease. The systema stuff is going for $18 a pop and the G&P comes in a set for about $25. | |

| Alright I'll get some cylinder grease pretty soon, but just for the night game coming up I'll have to use some gear grease temporarily. | |
