| I've got one of these (RAV) and it's a great PC, but I think I saw the same somewhere for cheaper.
A good deal is also to buy it without pouch :$170 and then go shopping on ASC because there're a lot of pouch you'll never use on this set.
I'll let you know | |

| If you sweat or otherwise have heat-related maladies, don't get an RAV, CIRAS or other full plate carrier. You will regret it.
For summer play in warm weather, a chest rig is the way to go. Lots of companies have them, like Blackhawk, HSGI, TAG, SOE, etc. You can buy clones from 204 Tactical (link on ASC) which are pretty good as well.
Then, buy your pouches in the configuration that you want. I have a 204 BHI Recon CR clone and I had Drop Zone pouches to carry 2 pistol, 2 40mm, compass and 16 M4 mags. I survived with it during the heat of summer when guys in CIRAS and RAVs were sweating and swearing.
Make sure to factor hydration into your rig, not just for convenience but for safety as well.

Agreed completely. Thankfully there are plently of Molle compatible hydrapack systems available with around 2 litres of water available or more. Interestingly enough, most games for this club run fall, winter, spring, and the summer is left for road trips and pick-up games. It is changing a bit now but I still like my CIRAS. Having done lots of heavy and hot backpacking, I find the equal weight distribution of the CIRAS to be excellent which keeps an even load and prevents hot spots. Also you can remove the plate inserts and replace them with cold packs (the flexy freezer ones)... -Doug

true but as all my poches are "original", that will be expensive for a buyer, so I'm afraid there will be more overtime hours to pay for real MC AND CB RAV

| Hecks yes, you should get that RAV. (If you can afford it. ) It's exactly what I was going to get, but because of a lack of funds I got a simple PC instead. | |

| It comes with a hydration pouch but no bladder, I have a bladder to put in it. I also think it would be better to have too many pouches than not enough plus I can take them off. The cold packs also sound like a good idea. I pmed him about the one you posted doug but he said it's a cheaper syle and not a phantom so i figured a replica of a replica wouldn't be to great. I also thought that OD would be better than CB because of our area. I think that I will go for this one because it comes with all of the pouches I will probably ever need. Thanks for all of the input guys. | |

| you picked up that RAV Frag? Ha ha ha. Or is it the case of you not buying it! Bwa ha ha ha. Yeah, cold packs work great with plate carriers just be careful you don't get freezer burn There are soo many styles of load bearing and tac vests out there. The more variety people buy, the more information can be shared. I am impressed with the Weesatch, the RAV, the CIRAS and if in a pinch, a SAAV is pretty zexy too. On the note of CIRAS's, I really like the fitting methods of the Maritime to the Land version. I am impressed with Frag's RAV, and TWSMITH's Weestach is just great. Horton's SAAV, though I did not get to wear it for the game, has lots of pouches, is cheap, and has a good strap system. Basically, go with what get you excited, and if you do not like it, most of the serious tac vest will resell for a good value, especially if new. -Doug | |
