| just a heads up impact resistant is not even the rating given to cheap safety glasses. | |

| well i found some atv goggles that are $50 and say they are impact resistant also, I'm really not willing to spend $150 on ballistic goggles like Brad @ Practical tactical sells, so I'm looking for alternatives other than mesh because I can't see shoit with mesh goggles. And the welding goggles that I was referring to are sold as eye protection for cutting and grinding, they were just in the "welding" section of Princess auto. If you have a line on some LOCAL places to buy protective eye wear it would be appreciated. I've been to Coast Mtn Sports, E&I, Some bike shop next to E&I (who by the way sells lots of camelback stuff, replacement bladders etc.) and of course PA. I'm still seeking out other business but am not having too much luck.

| Did a test on the $10 Princess auto Safety goggles. For the test I used a .177 BB pistol with a brand new CO2 cylinder. At a range of 1.5-2.0 feet I was really impressed and would have no hesitation using them in a game. ya i look like a dork.... so what? at least I can wear my hat and snug against my cheekrest so it doesn't affect my shooting. I will wear them at work while I'm huffing a puffing to see how much they fog up. (They do fog up a bit, wore them while digging a post hole in the yard and they did fog some) [More videos from knightwarrier] | |

| I don't want to get into a pissing contest, but impact resistant is not a proper rating. You can buy all sorts of sports goggles that are impact resistant and a bb will go straight through them. Just because one set stands up doesn't mean the next set will. If you want a set of goggles that are rated try a set out of a paintball mask, they're some for cheap. If you want good quality you can buy a set of tactical goggles like the set I have. granted they are more expensive but they're high quality and will take a 22 cal. | |

| lol, I used these welding glasses before. They worked okay but I fogged the heck out of them That and they do scratch fairly easily. Still, never had any penetration issues and that was doing all the standard shooting tests Rather use tac-googles anyways though, more coverage of the face. -Doug | |

| well using Horton's paintball mask it interferes with me using my aimpoint, because of the mask sticking out so far I had trouble seeing through the sight. So without spending a shoitload of cash on goggles I am trying to find an inexpensive alternative. And yes the PA goggles do fog up easily. | |

| Our club standard is the hotest gun on the field taking a shot at point blank, these seem to pass the test and more if you are using a pellet gun. Hope they work well for you... | |

| Yessir It was a pellet gun, but alas they fog really easy. There are marks in the goggles where the bb's impacted so it's not like they didn't even leave a mark, but I'd hope that 150 buck ballistic glasses would perform better. (no fogging up I mean) I just don't wanna spend that much money on expensive goggles and have similar performance. | |

| balistic goggles will still fog but you will get far superior performance from them then any thing else. they do better then then gas masks we use at the fire hall. | |

| From what i've seen on ASC and wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft#Eye_and_Face_Protection) as long as the goggles meet ANSI Z87 and have no BB size gaps they should be good to go.
BUT: I've bought all kinds of safety glasses for work and although they are all ANSI Z87+ and CSA approved, every pair stated clearly that they should not be use for shooting games. So even though they are designed to withstand 3J, you still will assume all risk. | |

| There's always antifog spray. I used to refuse to wear a hockey visor because of fogging issues, but once I found an antifog that worked it wasn't an issue. The best antifog I've discovered so far is lemon pledge. The only problem is that I'm not sure if it has an effect on the hardness of the lens. But it sure makes the lens look like new and it smells lemony fresh as well. | |
