| KNight I figured out the problem with that gun. Bushing cracked in half then snapped a rather large tooth off of the bevel gear....never seen the bevel gear go before. | |

Dave! THANK YOU! For speedily fixing the young un's new AEG. He was so devastated that night, I think we are seeing the next generation of Airsofters coming up. They had a blast, a sleepover using a barn as a airsoft arena. Almost made me wanna stay for that. But they had a lot of fun.So was it a plastic bushing? Should I be ordering metal ones for them? and maybee a few sets of gears.... i'm not sure how many bb's a gearbox can spit before normal wear and tear demands replacing them.

| Having a set of gears and a piston around is never a bad idea. I have some instock all the time. Metal bushings are always a better idea than plastic ones....always.
Ebaybanned sells gear sets with piston for less than $40 canadian.

| I don't want to step on toes here but I recomend Airsoftparts.ca When I had my Kracken runnen as an ak I had the bushings, shims and upgraded spring guide. It wasn't till I tried making it do 500fps that I ran into trouble. now I just need a new piston...I think. | |

| Dave's right, pretty much the bees knees when it comes to drop in gearbox's... although you have to be a super doc to be able to build one. I believe they run somewhere around the $300-$500 mark (not built). | |

| I'm acualy shooting for just under the club limit, which is 500 fps. This is sort of turned into a pimped out SVD. Just need a scope mount. I've pretty much replaced everything inside the gear box, but can't find a piston that will stand up. I need a metal half tooth piston to go with the Huricane Helical Ultra torque gears. | |

| Umm Billy sorry to break it to you but, your over in both fps and joules by my count... I am sure that you are running something or gauging it off of something that I have not considered, but I just wanted to state it.
Have you tried a aluminum piston yet? You might have a better change of the first tooth holding up because they're supposed to be stronger than polycarbonate... or so I'm told

| IMO, we should probably revisit the fps limits. Rules state semi-only for that fps, but I think we should probably change that to bolt action only as AEG's have come a long way since we first established that rule. When Dustin and Doug had their PTW max's at our milsim they didn't run at 500fps as the semi could fire almost as fast as full-auto because of the fast trigger response. I believe our intention was to limit the guns that could fire at 500 fps to a slow rate of fire as a safety precaution, that shouldn't change.
Personally I felt like crap when I beaned Bill with my bolt action shooting 500 fps, as did Nick when he hit me with the mk 1 carbine. It felt like someone had hit me in the head with a rock and I was pretty happy it was only a single bb. If we had been shooting in semi auto there likely would have been 2 or 3 more bb's in the same time frame and a lot more potential for injury.

| I would agree, while we are at it we should look at the CQC FPS limits too.
Outdoors 400-500 bolt action only 360-400 semi only 0-360 full auto
Indoors 0-310 full auto 310-350 semi only.
I am not sure which way to go with this. 350 really hurts up close but not much more than anything else.

| After playing an indoor CQB game with a half dozen Krakens shooting at me, I'd tend to agree. Not to come off as a whiner, but I was wearing full BDU's and a paintball mask and I still had a tonne of welts all over my body. It's a good thing you put softer springs in your rentals or it would have been multiple bleeders. We should probably boost the limit slightly for full auto outdoors 0-365 so a person with a stock Kraken can use it full auto for outdoors and increase the semi auto limit to 310-365 for indoors for CQB. That way new players can buy stock Krakens and use them for any kind of game. Outdoors 401-500 bolt action only 366-400 semi only 0-365 full auto Indoors 0-310 full auto 311-365 semi only. We should also standardize our chrono tests, ie. to confirm the fps we should take the average of 3 shots. Maybe you've already been doing that anyway, but we should have it recorded in the rules. | |

| Would also be advantagious with the chrony test to be firing from a common bag of .2s, just for those few gamers who "forget" they are loaded with .25s. | |

| Problem with shooting from a common bag is I won't always do that as I run a Tight bore in most of my guns. I will gladly take rounds out of my own bag of .2 in front of people to prove that they aren't 25s.
By the way this SVD I'm working on is more of a can I do it project. I plan on selling it on ASC once done. Also an SVD is a sniper and therefor is intended for the same kind of use. I'v played a couple of sniper games now where I didn't empty more then 2 clips of 11 rounds in a day. I currently field an m700 that has the capability of over 650 but is adjustable. With this gun I've put all 11 rounds from a mag in to a my stop sign at 50 yards in less then 4 seconds.
By the way Beach who was it that was using a hot gun for CQB?
