| I got to meet some folks out in Kamloops this Sunday past for a bit of Airsoft fun.
Currently their games are posted on the Kelowna Forums, which up until recently no one new could access due to board and administration problems. After 8 months of trying I finally found some with access to a moderator (thanks Knight) to fix the registration problem with my account (happens to everyone who tries to join it) lo and behold, there is a game in Kamloops, same weekend I have to do a parts run.
So Chris, Karl and I take off for a long weekend parts run Kamloops visit and airsoft game. Thanks again to Dieter for volunteering to stay and mind the fort and dogs while we were in Kamloops.
After some supply stops Saturday, we head up Mt Lolo bright and early sunday morning, looking for the airsoft game...its about 30 minutes out of town according to the google maps posted in the forum. Unfortunately we got there first, so no vehicles to look for...or signs...so we ended up driving a lot of it, and became a bit more familiar with the area. Finally we drove back to the last known good landmark and waited for others.
This worked, as we hooked up with Shawn, who was just in time to guide us to the unmarked new location in crown land for the game. We unloaded and he went back out to the main road to watch for others.
This field was under first growth spruce forest...think perpetual shade, all tall trees, with a small amount of underbrush. Good movement capability, regular hard cover....couldn't quite ATV thru it, but almost.
All told, there were 6 of us playing today. Weapons on the field were 2 M16s, a g36c, a short ak74, and a cool looking AUG. The AUG was a bull pup design with the motor housed in the stock...it ended up being a very quiet shooter. I fielded Suka.
First game was 3 on 3 with respawning at a base at either end of the field. Ended up being old guys versus young guys...or new bdus vs faded...depending on who you asked...har....and for the most part us old guys got our asses kicked. We died a couple times, before we got some kills in (Suka giving cover fire on a two man bunker) but generally the field (I think) belonged to those who arrived and dug in first. Also I would say that we did better when we stuck together more...my two point guys kept moving to far apart and couldn't cover each other...I tried to cover both but that only works if they stopped drifting apart. I would say that the other side worked more cohesively that we did and got results for it. Who knows. I had fun all the same.
That was most of the day, but we ended with a 2 AEG defending bunker against 4 pistol attackers. Respawning for the attacker back at the base, and medic rules for the defenders. That was tough. Just getting in range with pistol only was work....and was best done aggressively and with others doing the same simultaneously.
My pistol was the quietest one there, but seems to be shooting as well as the rest. I had to keep checking it that it was working ok....no...shoots fine...just quiet, fine. Attackers took the bunker after successful coordinated flanking and front engagement for the first game...the second one ended with defenders holding us off.
A couple a folks had to head out around 2 so the game was called. We sat around and chatted for a while. I mentioned the problem with finding them via the Kelowna board. They were aware of the problem, and suggested maybe using a Facebook site instead, so that Kamloops has SOME sort of presence for new people.
They are also have a June 6th milsim game at the same location, with folks coming from the coast. I will be in at Albert Head til the 7th, so cant make it.
So a good day was had by all, and they were very gracious hosts.

She had her hands full with the little girl (month old) and Karl...so they went back into town and hit a park. Also if her stitches allowed her to operate as a photographer she is then good enough to play, and would probaly end up doing that (wife has new AK, and is itching to use it) | |
