Firstly, if you can test the battery your using to rule that out.
If the battery is good, then it's something hinky in the mechbox. Could be any number of things to a poor shimming, bad motor depth, busted gear, piston head, etc. It'd have to be opened up to determine the cause.
Edit: I see Horton got to ya already. Mechbox.com is how i learned before taking my AK apart...and both my buddies' M4 series. If you do go ahead and attempt a self repair, be VERY careful since chances are if it's jammed, the spring is compressed.
