Scar-l just died.

Waaa Haaa Haaa! Think my gearbox just blowed up on my scar-!

well on closer inspection it looks like the pinion gear on the motor is a little stripped. Still struggling to get the whole gearbox out to check for damage.

several hours later and an intimate journey into the bowels of my gun I found the gearbox in excellent condition inside. the adjustment screw to set the motor depth backed off and the pinion on the motor got a little chewed but other than that, it is shooting fine. boy .... what a pain in the ars it was getting the gearbox out ,open and back together again. Looking online a new gearset was gonna run about $100. till need to replace the pinion in the motor though. is it replaceable? or do you have change the whole motor?

it is replaceable, there is a tool to help pull it. I think yours should have a set screw in it to take it off.

might be easier just to replace the motor...pinions seem to be hard to find.

When I owned the scar which was eventually sold to Bill, I looked into opening the gun and seen how much of a work out it was going to be!

It's not something I wanna pull apart everyday, but good to know that it in perfect shape.
