So i've FINALLY bought some, and played with them a bit. As some of you may know, there are some concerns regarding this product, particularly with expensive optics. So i've managed to get a chance to use them at a game to see if these are even worth the trouble. In short, i'd say no, and i'll explain why.
PROS
- Accurate (though i don't think anymore accurate then the BB Bastard .28 Whites)
- Pretty (These things are just plain cool)
- Extraordinarily durable (I mistakenly shot one of the vehicles due to height over bore of my site and did not see one break, it did however leave a nasty dent or 4 in the metal) **It was a dedicated junkyard car for the speed-ball court so no harm done, i was also careful not to hit any of the glass with these as i am certain they break it easily**
- Probably the only reusable BB that's inexpensive, just a quick wash and they're good to go.
- Bio-neutral (since they are almost pure silica it's better then leaving piles of plastic ones around)
CONS
- Slightly smaller then a std BB Bastard, only thing i could think of to attribute to the 15-20fps difference between the Styrene BB Bastards of the same weight. I actually chrono the same fps with 0.30g BB Bastards. Might be good news to those that run super tight-bore barrels of 6.01mm
- They bunch up in speed-loaders, at least the 2 i tried, making it difficult to load my mags.
- Last 2 mags i used had issues feeding them, i'd assume they were bunching in there as well since i tested with regular Bastards afterwards without issue.
- Inconsistant? (I chronied a string of shots with these with results varying from 305-318 fps, and i got 324.X fps 5 shots in a row with the regular 0.28 Bastards
I was probably the only one really interested in these, but i figured i'd post up my real world findings thus far. I still have nearly 2k Glasstards to muck with yet, maybe i'll discover something along the way.
