Smoke Bombs

Anyway this does flame a bit so you can't just light it and throw into the forest. If you had it in a contaner like a tin can or something like that it might be safe.

I am assuming that E&I would carry some fuse.

A few conclusions
-they burn really hot and could never be used for throwable or use in forest smoke bombs
-I suck at cooking them...Doug says we need the powdered stuff not the granulated stuff.

Dave, I thought you did an excellent job. Great learning experience. That 5 minute tube one worked really well for a signal prop. It seems the better mixed the materials were, the more smoke and less flame created.

Kudo's to Horton for being adventurious and giving this a try, this will lead to some very interesting scenarios and props (finally trip mines that make smoke and sound).

iv made a few smoke bombs before with very little flame at the beginning i'll conger a few up and see if i can get the right agen

i use to make these and machine out canisters for them so they wouldent shoot flames out.

ive made some of these cant you just put it in a tennis ball to reduce flame

If the pot that Horton used melted the bottom out of, I don't think a tennis ball would fair much better. lol

THese things took A LOT to light and MORE to put out.

really ours were very easy to light just used fireworks fuse

just stuff a tennis ball full of tissue paper and a couple of matches. light and throw and laugh at the girls sceaming and running

Where do you guys get the KN03 from? Just curious really, didn't think they would be shipping that stuff from over the border.

KNO3 is saltpeter?

KNO3 is potassium nitrate, which is known also as salt peter. Did you guys get yours locally?

I used to buy it from a pharmacy, not sure if you can still do that.

There is a horse feed place where we were buying fairly large bags for around $20
