| Though propper is decent, that Marpat cut is crap, not even close to Issue ACU. Notice even the lacking of all identification velcro spots (shoulders, chest, and IR front)... and that is even against the propper ACU. I rather buy Issue ACU and dye it. Mind you, the actual Marpat pattern is great in PG, shame it is so hard to get Issue Marpat. I guess one can always buy a bunch of velcro and put their own on. You know what though, since I am kicking back here at home, maybe I will go grab some clothe dye and give this a try, can't hurt, not like it isn't super cheap to get some more. -Doug | |

| besides the velcro (which I'm glad not to have anyway) what else is different that makes it crap? | |

| Non-milspec fabric (should be 50/50), single seam sewing, single layer cut, and from what I can tell, non-gen 2 velcro (which is huge for long life use). Now, from doing further research on the net, that Dig Woodlands should have the full velcro cover, just his pictures don't... Maybe he has a lesser generation or something screwed up, still, the velcro is great for patches. That and for costing over $120, it is not worth the price. That being said though, you can get some great deals elsewhere for as low as $26 usd a Propper piece. Here are some quotes: - Whiners wrote:
They are nice for day to day use, but rip easy and do not have the draw string pockets like the issue does.
It's a heavy poly, so it's hot and not comfortable, but it's durable enough.
Now with all that being said, I still like wearing my MC repo. I love it for the pattern but hate it for the build. It still is of decent quality (and the propper MC is exactly the same material and build as the Dig Wood ACU). But, as all things in Airsoft, you get what you pay for and I am finding out that though repo is good and does the job for most situations, nothing beats the Issue gear. So yeah, Propper is still better then Truspec, just a shame that Issue Marpat is a fortune to buy. -Doug

| Good news Dave, after doing some more looking up on Propper, they do make Issue Marpat with 50/50 blend and NIR compliance. Just look for this tag and you got near or the real thing (or at least something that your CQ would let you wear in field). | |

| thanks for the research Doug. I will do a review of the Propper Marpat soon enough. One of the best moments so far was when I thought the stiching was all buggered but I was looking at it inside out. The colours have permeated the cloth so well you can barely tell the inside from the out! Say bye bye to fading issues. | |

Heh, that is awesome, much better then what what shown on the internet, most pics showed thin cloth with a bleached out backing. Maybe you lucked out and got an older gen but mil approved set. -Doug

| I have Propper ACU (issue-grade but not issued), American Apparel (Propper subsidiary) MARPAT (issue-grade but not issued), Propper Multi-Cam (authentic Crye material) as well as MC clone, MARPAT clone and Drop-Zone MARPAT.
The real deals are the best as far as features and quality of material and construction and both the issue ones cost me $200+ for the ACU and $160 for the MARPAT. But both were new, un-issued and unused, which makes them legal on both sides of the border. You couldn't wear your e-Bay stuff in the U.S. on holidays without risking problems with the authorities.
When I was in Vegas last fall, you could go into army surplus stores and retailers and buy real issue BDUs and gear, but only with valid military ID. The civilian stuff was available, but not as good in quality from what I saw. But you have to remember as well, the largest U.S. airbase in the world (Nellis) is only 40 miles from Vegas, so I'm sure they get alot of military personnel in town to shop.
MARPAT is still the best with foliage, ACU blows except in urban/winter/desert environments and real Crye MC has issues with the IRR treatment that render night use ridiculous.

| I thinkit would be to bright. There are still allot of ever greens and the darkest brown in Arid cadpat is brighter than any tones in the bush. | |
