mk23 socom mag leakage Empty
PostSubject: mk23 socom mag leakage   mk23 socom mag leakage EmptyFri 18 May 2007, 4:19 pm

Problem: gas coming out the bottom sides of the mag

Suspected problem: blown o-ring due to running CO2 at a much higher than rated psi

Remedy: pull out pins disassemble mag and replace o-ring

Procedure: use a small punch to punch out the two pins, not the one in the middle

Use a small drill bit to drill into the pin in the middle

Remove the end cap on the mag (USE CATION!!!! There is a spring and
Blow off valve before the o-ring and it will
Fly out and try to get lost!!!!!)

Once apart replace o-ring and give it a quick shot of silicone lube

Use a clean cloth to wipe the inside of the mag were the o-ring sits, after
Wiping, inspect thouroly for metal shavings that were cause by drilling

Insert blow-out valve and spring into end cap

Insert end cap wile pressing down on the sprin with your finger

Push the two pins back in (USE CAUTION!!!! When pins wont push in
By hand any more tap them in gently but make
Sure the holes are perfectly aligned or the mag
May bulge out at the bottom causing problems
When you go to release it from the gun)

Fill the drilled out hole with JB Weld or equivalent, I have not done this
Because I don’t want to drill my mags out any more

Actual problem: the blow off valve (which I believe is supposed to kick out when you over fill your mag or try to fill it with to high of psi ( I could be wrong)), had twisted sideways in its little hole, I believe this is from running highpressures so much that it finally just tilted a bit and couldn’t close

After math: mag works fine and the gun still shoots strong and deadly silent.

hey spork,,,not trying to jack your thread, but i have pictoral for the reapir i would like to add. it is really easy to do.

see the pin that is slighty of center to the other two pins? thats the boss pin and it will need to be dremeled out in order for the two pieces to seperate. simply push the other two pins out first (with all gas pressure removed) before you dremel the boss pin. this will allow you to see how far you need to drill in order to seperate the pieces. the boss pin is only a few mm long so you will need to be careful not to over do the drilling.

above picture is what it should look like when drilling is complete and you are ready to seperate the pieces.

above picture is what you will see when you seperate the pieces. you will notice that a small brass valve and a spring will fall out when you seperate the two pieces. just simply toss these as they will not be reused. i like to use jb weld to fill the hole where that pesky little valve used to be. be sure to let it sit for a day before using. you will notice a small o ring on the base of the mag, place a small amount of silicone around this o ring and give it a few minutes to skin up before re-assembly. you only need a little silicone as to much will make re-assembly more difficult. once this is complete you simply re-assemble the pieces and you are good to go. periodicaly you may need to disassemble the mag again to re-do the silicone seal so its advisable NOT to epoxy up the boss pin hole as this will make dissasembly immpossible in the event if another leak. after i repaired my mag with this method im capable of getting exactly ( tested ) 150 bb's per gas charge.
well there you have it,,hope this helps.
