Ranks

maybe this is just a PG thing...who knows.

I am getting tired of tracking games for each member to count up ranks. I think it is getting confusing and just allot of work. I am asking for ideas on how to make ranks easier and still useful to our club.

I propose.

tags tell us who catches milsims or we can use the higher ranks as steps when you catch a milsim

5 milsim-Chief Warrant Officer (CWO)
4 milsim-Master Warrant Officer (MWO)
3 milsim-Warrant Officer (WO)
2 milsim-Sergeant (Sgt)
1 milsim-Master Corporal (MCpl)
caught a boot camp-Corporal (Cpl)
5 and on -Private (Pte) (MEMBER)
0-4 club games-Private Recruit (Pte (Recruit)
0 club games-Master Chairsofter
visitor for non local players

does that mean someone will take my "visitor" tag from me? lol

hmmm, what about those of us who have other time commitments and have missed some of the newer games but have a lot under our belts from the old stuff? Just whining as an old member.

That and we really do need more definitions of what counts as a milsim, having a bunch of guys show up and shoot each other does not cut it (both previous sims have been great, just worried that they may start to become an everyday occurrence). If we are holding one every couple months then everyone will be CWO's overnight.

I propose that we get rid of the ranking system completely and implement a system based on merit. That means the person is a NIA member (5games and a patch) or MIA member (5games and a patch), of QIA (etc.ectc.). will be considered as rank. We have the award tags for bootcamp, builddays, and MilSims, so we should use the ranks space as a place to state that they are a member of which club section and if they have any special distinction ie. MilSim/bootcamp trainer.

Soooo, in summary:

-no more ranks, but records (paper/post) will be kept for amount of games attended. Tags will be awarded for attendance of big events.

-Ranks space is now used to state which club section they belong to, PG main NIA, Mackenzie MIA, Moberly, Quesnel, etc.

-Special ranks can be created for members who show distinction and merit.

I like the idea of the NIA, MIA, QIA, etc to distinguish where players come from at the milsims and then the patch designates that we are all in one giant organization.

Doug do you have the time to make up some NIA-PG, NIA-Quesnel, NIA-MIA etc...

These tags make it really easy to see where people are at with experience.

That reminds me Dave, can you put my name as the mod for the NIA Quesnel section please.

I am going to wait a few months to see if it even takes off before anything. It'll give anyone from that area who comes on here equal ground for getting into the sport.

The only reason why I suggest that system is that different clubs have different game counts and what games actually count. This way numbers will still be kicking around but credibility will be represented by working towards large meaningful events like MilSims, build days, and training days. As seen with the tag system, there is room for specialized training (see the how hardcore are you? thread).

I am working 12+ hour days right now so I will need to have another rain day to get them all finished up (rain is pretty common right now ) so I will try to get them ASAP.

Just a thought...what does QIA stand for

NIA is the all of us together, MIA stands for Mackenzie Irregular Airsoft but Quesnel Interior Airosft doesn't make as much sense. What about just having the NIA more pronounced and having the city name or whatever that city wants to be called on the top?

In general discussion we usually use "NIA - Quesnel", so even just "Quesnel Member" on the rank tag would work, if it fits. Also waiting on an email back from Drache regarding the whole QIA thing.

Same here, I prefer being called NIA-Moberly or NIA-Chetwynd. Basically just a regional division of NIA. If people want to create local teams within NIA, who cares? I believe we kind of had that discussion with the Squadron idea. I believe if we have the regional tag it should be mainly for helping organize games within that region, not related to team organization. As I likely can't field enough guys from this region to form a team anyway.

OK, talked with Drache and we have decided to just remain NIA - Quesnel, instead of QIA.

The only issue with this that we can see is the confusion of PG in newcomer's eyes. "NIA? What branch?"

True that, prince george just happens to be bigger but it sure isn't better than any other club. NIA-PG
