That is enough of a difference to make it a completely different game. That and mag capacities are completely different... Same as if people had prior paintball experience (which many of us do), it still does not count towards 5 airsoft games.

Until you consider people (like myself) using springers, or single-shot sniper rifles and the like. Even militia groups lack fully automatic weapons. As for mag capacity, that depends on the gun you are using, and the rules involved. Most of our games had mag caps. So far as alot of people are concerned, a BB gun is a BB gun is a BB gun. Be it .177, 6mm, 8mm. What makes the game is those playing it. So no, it is not a completely different game. That is why they are lumped as "War Games". That being said, we are going to need some patches shipped down, or I can pick them up next time I am in PG. The 18th will make ~airsoft~ game #4, as stands, and we will likely have another before the end of the month. And that does not include Operation BOOMSLANG.

| I am not going to argue the semantics of what are the differences between Airsoft and Paintball and Pellet guns, you can go to ASC and get flamed there. Here are some quotes from various threads regarding this issue. Please read these: in order to get a rank you must attended an NIA game that is -hosted by someone who is recognized as a leader in the area -There must be a minimum of 5 players -safety standards must be upheldTO JOIN THE CLUB YOU NEED.... -5 club games and an OK from senior club members as safe and trustworthy (member status given after gear and gun requirements met, games without gear and guns count towards your 5) -Quality and reliable main weapon (assualt, sniper, submachine etc) -matching issue or close replica gear set (pants, jacket and hat) -$5 fee for 1 badge, extra badges are $5 each after that - beach wrote:
- I agree, if the person doesn't sell out the cash then they can't be too serious, its like coming out with a springer and wanting to join the club...
If you do not wish to follow these guidelines, fine, your teammates do, and thus, they are/will be part of NIA. Like as been stated repeatedly on this site, we have a responsibility to be upheld on a local level (PG gun club) and national level (ASC). Since it is a very small community it is very important to maintain a professional image. One mistake can ostracize a club from ever participating with any other club. Drache's rank is now fixed up (Badge is pending), when people meet these requirements in Quesnel, they too will be bumped up the rank. Until then, they are regarded as new players. Dave has been clear that this is all in the test phase: - Horton wrote:

As for patches, when they first came in, Dave mailed them out all over the place depending where we were at the time. I grabbed mine up in Dawson, $1 for shipping, $10 for 2 patches, $11 total. EMT works well. In the end though, do not forget that rank has no in-game effects, rank is only shown on the website, and the members only benefit is getting to wear the patch. That badge of honor needs to be earned through merit, time invested, and hard-work. -Doug

| I want my Admin one back... haha jk. Aedomon don't sweat it over the ranks, like Daes said it has no real effect. I can understand that by having a 'New Member' rank makes you look like a noob, heck it reminds me of when Parka first came on, he posted tons of garbage posts to get his post count up, which used to change the ranks, just so he could prove... umm display his airsoft experience. Even myself for example, I'm an Admin here, a NIA member, and resident gun doctor (besides Dave) but out here at the club in sask, my rank is FNG (F#*King New Guy). Heck I can't even attend their Milsims until I complete one of their boot camps even though I've been with the NIA since the beginning. So I know how you feel, but regardless I still need to abide and respect their rules because I know that they there for a reason and they have all had to follow the same rules, so why would I be any exception?
I really do want to keep stressing the importance of having those 5 NIA games under your belt before being a so called 'NIA member.' Not only will it give the senior members of the club a good sense of your personality, but also you can observe how we run things. We are not Kelowna or Kamloops, so we don't run things quite the same way. We also have this in place so that we can seperate ourselves from others who might try to create their own airsoft club (ie. Biffchicken), and help keep airsoft going up here in the North.

| fixed up your rank Beach, thanks goodness these have no field effect, imagine having to salute you as admin and me as chairsofter every game...
Aedomon, I have fixed up your rank to be a NIA new member, you were not on the official game attendance list, but I realize now that most people who have attended the Boomslang sim were not added to the attendance list due to nobody taking it, cough cough. This is very important that if people are playing games, that they maintain both an electronic and paper list of attending players, if not, game counts will be called into question.
I must admit, compared to most clubs, we are very easy going in getting a membership. Look at the Ontario teams... As with bootcamp, it is not required for our milsims (mind you I would really like to see that fixed). If something is not working out, we are usually flexible.
Mind you, at some point, we really do have to start implementing infrastructure to determine our player base. This last year has seen the addition of new teams from our original PG&Moberly, to including Mackenzie, Chetwynd, and hopefully Quesnel. Other teams around western Canada are recognizing this and it is important that we maintain a respectable image (look at the mess Alpine caused, national attention).

Just wanted to make an example of a specialized rank recognizing merit and time spent towards developing this club. The nice thing about the new rank system is that once the rank has been assigned, there is no need for further maintenance. Dave had a good idea, I think that once the kinks are worked out, this will work quite well, reduce the amount of needed rank adjustment work, and recognize dedicated NIA members. I would like to make some dedicated ranks for community leaders too (Horton, Zues, Smith) but we don't want to go down too much of a slippery path, ha ha. -Doug

For information purposes, as well as an update, NIA-Quesnel is currently doing prep work for an Open House. This will hopefully be taking place in the first part of October (due to time constraints from work, and the need for getting more games in), and it would be nice to see some reps from out of town, as well. If anybody interested would PM myself or Drache, we will try to line up a date that works for all parties. Unfortunately, saturdays are out due to under-staffing.
